1932 Flood in Fall City, Washington |
There are several rivers in the Snoqualmie Valley and they are prone to flooding. These are pictures from the big flood in the spring of 1932.
This is the highway after it was torn up by
Raging River. (Fall City-Preston Road/Highway 202,
I think.)
Another view of the highway after it was torn up
by Raging River.
Jack Chisholm's notes say "Flooded auto camp".
I think he means the one that's by the Snoqualmie
River in Fall City.
Nelson's Flat, Fall City.
Nelson's Flat, Fall City. This area is now a golf
course. At that time, it was a farm. You can see
the row of
trees that are the edge of the
Snoqualmie River
over at one side of
the photo.
This is now Highway 202, or the Fall City-Snoqualmie
road, in the long straight stretch along the
Snoqualmie
river just outside (and upstream from)
Fall City.
Please note: driving in flood water is a
really stupid move. Don't imitate this.
This is at the Patterson Creek Ranch, which is downstream from Fall City.
This is the crest of Snoqualmie Falls, upstream from
Fall City, at flood stage.
This would actually be in the North Bend area
before the South Fork, the North Fork and the
Middle Fork all come together to form the
Snoqualmie River.
