The ones in bold are my direct ancestors.
I did not do all the research myself. Accuracy varies, naturally. This is the abbreviated version of the info
that I have.
There is an embarrassment of riches in the the downline from Parley Howe. There is, bluntly, too much to publish here until some rainy year when I'm totally bored. Maybe too much even for then. Meanwhile, if you'd like lots and lots of information contact my cousin Ollie Howe at ohowe@willapabay.org . He has books of Howe descendancies for the families in this downline. (Cost of materials plus shipping.) They are nicely laid out and have as many pictures as possible. If you're descended from Parley Howe and you are NOT in contact with him yet, I urge you to make contact with him immediately!
In direct contrast, no one (of the many researchers in this family) has been able to get any solid evidence that Parley Howe actually had parents, or if he did, that they left any records. So, if anyone has any evidence of Parley Howe's ancestors, I also encourage you to get in contact.
Parley Howe and Deborah Hulet settled in Mansfield New York in about 1825 or 1830.
Despite intense research by a number of people, no ancestors for Parley Howe have been proven to date.
Samuel Howe was born 26 October 1815 in Onandaga county, New York. Died 26 November 1887 at age 74.
He married Jane Manley 10 November 1840.
He was a farmer.
John Elon Howe known usually as J.E. Howe was born 23 May 1860 in Little Valley, New York. Died 8 February 1937 in Fall City, King county, Washington.
He married Effie Adela Lyon on 28 April 1881. They lived in Fall City for many, many years and ran a chicken farm. Both are buried in Fall City Cemetery.
Effie Adela Lyon grew up as an only child, even if she was the sixth child born. The other five children had died from an epidemic before she was born.
Charles Martin Whitfield was born 4 December 1886 in Chicago, Cook county, Illinois. Died 12 April 1963, Tacoma Washington.
He married Elsie Caroline Howe on 24 June 1908 at Tolt/Carnation, King County, Washington. Elsie died 19 April 1914 from complications of German measles when she already had heart and lung problems and had had three babies in three years. Then Charlie Whitfield married Gertrude Howe Ranf on 25 October 1915. Gertrude was a cousin and a friend of Elsie's and was a widow with one child.
Elsie Caroline Howe was born 25 August 1889 in Covert, Michigan. She died 19 April 1914 in Fall City, Washington
and is buried in Fall City Cemetery.
