Lil Chisholm & Camprobbers

Camprobbers, also known as Bums, and more officially as Gray Jay, Canada Jay or Oregon Jay (or Perisoreus canadensis) tend to be tame, hang around people and steal food off of picnic tables. They are also, occasionally, willing to land on fingers, if there's also food on those fingers.

These pictures show my grandmother, Lulan Royle Chisholm, holding Camprobbers and feeding them. In the background of the pictures is the Hillacres farm where she lived with Jimmy Chisholm. You can see the hills beyond that had been logged and snags and dead trees left behind, as well as the young trees growing up.

My best guess for the date is somewhere in the late 1920s or early 1930s.
