Snow Lake Hike |
|
Snow Lake and Source Lake are close together in the Snoqualmie Pass area of the Cascade Mountains in Washington state. There's a fairly well established trail now, though at the time these pictures were taken, it was more of a find-your-own-way trail. I've heard stories about a Snow Lake trip (possibly this one) involving sliding down snowy hillsides and then having to figure out how to get back home.
People on the trip: Jack Chisholm (photographer, no photos of him), Ben (Moore?), Jean Chisholm, Dot (?). Possibly others, but these were all I know of for sure.
The negatives were very poor in quality, I did quite a bit of work to get the pictures as good as they are. The long straight lines are scratches on the film from either the camera or the developing tank. I removed the worst of them from the Snow Lake photo, the other photos are unretouched except for levels, color & contrast balances.
My best guess as to the time would be in the 1920s, probably around 1928.
The titles in quotes are what's written on the envelopes that the negatives are stored in, and are in Jack Chisholm's handwriting.
