Plant Pots used by Aunt Eve Chisholm 1940s-1970s |
Aunt Eve Chisholm always had potted plants around. Her little house had plant pots there when I inherited the house. I also had the habit of keeping house plants and naturally used the pretty pots she'd left behind. These are some of them.
A blue basket made out of ceramic ware. Raised medallions and such.
A green pot made out of ceramic ware with a cloth-like woven pattern.
This is the typical clay pot of the garden...except that this one has imprinted
scalloping and had been painted red.
I don't know what she had in this plastic umbrella...maybe it was just
hanging up as a decoration. It was empty when I found it and put in a very
delicate little vine to trail over the side.
Yellow Pot. The decorations are raised. This was always one of my favorites.
Squirrel. Decoration. This was usually in amongst her plants, or on the floor. It's apparently cement,
there's a casting line and it's HEAVY!!!
Frog. This clever little pot or vase is a frog leaning backwards. Unfortunately, a toe broke off
(the crack is visible in the picture) and so it doesn't hold water very well.
These are houseplants from the 1930s at Patterson Creek.
